The New Inmate Workshop (or NIW pronounced new) is a peer-led COG program that mentors men that have never been to prison before. Through open, honest and friendly dialogue we discuss how to make the best of your time with the least amount of stress possible.
We cover topics such as cellmate and cell hall manners, getting into a routine and filling your it with positive activities like educational programs, religious services, or
teaching yourself an art or craft. It is our hope that by introducing new inmates to positive role models at the beginning of their sentence they won’t get hooked by the overwhelming negative influences that are so prevalent in a prison setting.
